The UC San Diego AIDS Research Institute (ARI) is happy to announce the launch of the “$20 for 20 Years” fundraising campaign in honor of the 20th Anniversary of our translational research program, the UC San Diego Center for AIDS Research (CFAR). Proceeds from this 2014 campaign will underwrite the ARI Emerging Investigators Fund, created to support HIV/AIDS investigators at the start of their careers. For a $20, tax-deductible donation at http://ari.ucsd.edu/donation, you can be an integral part of combating this disease. In addition to supporting our emerging investigators, donors will be recognized on the ARI website and personalized electronic “Valentine Cards” are available for those who want to donate on behalf of a friend or loved one.
ARI and CFAR Director, Dr. Douglas Richman, has long had a passion for mentoring the next generations of investigators. This commitment has continually bolstered UC San Diego’s contributions to treatment, prevention strategies and research methods used to prevent HIV transmission on a global scale. The CFAR Laboratories at UC San Diego have yielded some of the seminal discoveries in the understanding of HIV/AIDS, including drug resistance and the latent HIV reservoir.
Our $20 for 20 Years donation drive is scheduled to run from February 1 – April 30, 2014. Each month will have different themes and we will continue highlighting to work of our current “emerging investigators” each week via Facebook, Twitter an on the ARI website. Thank you for your support!
