Investigating Motion 2009
On Thursday, October 1, Investigating Motion 2009 convened at San Diego's historic Abbey. Four of San Diego's top modern dance companies each presented one of their works. Performances were given by somebodies dance theater, UCSD's Eric Geiger, Malashock Dance, and Butterworth Dance.

Between performances, UCSD faculty gave brief, informative talks, and mulitple opportunity drawings--with multiple winners!--kept the audience on its toes. Ken Kramer, host of "About San Diego," was the perfect emcee for the evening. A selection of gourmet appetizers and fine wine rounded out the event.

The highlight of the evening was a proclamation delivered by San Diego City Councilmembers Carl DeMaio and Sherri Lightner, declaring. October 1, 2009, as UCSD AIDS Research Institute Day!

The UCSD AIDS Research Institute is most grateful for the generous support of the event's sponsors and to those who performed, spoke, and above all, attended the first of these annual concerts. Our thanks and gratitude to all!
